The theater was founded in 1989 by Ostap Stakhiv, Honored Artist of Ukraine.

In 1992, the musical film The Insurgents are Already Marching was recorded by Lviv TV.

Bohdan Sikora has performed with UKRTHEATR in Ukraine, Poland, Canada, Russia, etc.
